Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal will celebrate the return of its imposing carillon, following a major restoration carried out since 2019 by France’s Fonderie Paccard. You are all invited to the bell blessing ceremony on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., in the presence of the titular carillonist, Andrée-Anne Doane, Cyril Paccard, donors and Oratory staff. The only carillon in the province, it is an important part of Quebec’s heritage.

Blessing Ceremony: Saturday, June 17, 2023

 

  • 10:30 a.m.: Electronic carillon concert with Andrée-Anne Doane.
  • 11 a.m.: Blessing Ceremony.

 

The ceremony will take place on the outdoor terrace in front of the Crypt Church of Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal (level 1). In the event of rain, the ceremony will take place in the Oratory’s Major Development Project Hall, near the entrance of the Crypt Church.

Bell Exhibition

The bells will be placed temporarily in a structure close to the outdoor parvis in front of the Crypt Church. The public is invited to get a close-up look on June 17 and 18 before they’re installed in the bell tower.

Carillon Exhibit

A small exhibit on the history of the carillon will be held in the Major Development Project Hall (level 1).
