Dr. Barthelemy Kuate Defo

BARTHELEMY KUATE DEFO was raised by his widowed mother, a devoted Catholic, following the premature death of his father whom he barely saw as a preschooler. He is a fervent Catholic and father who has been married for over 35 years. He is also the chief administrator of his father’s extended family composed of about 100 families and 600 individuals residing in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. His family arrived in Canada from the United States in 1994.

Mr. Robin Yue-Nam Cheung, deacon

ROBIN YUE-NAM CHEUNG has been married for 46 years and is the father of two grown children and the grandfather of four adorable grandchildren. During the last 10 years, he served as a permanent deacon in two churches in the Archdiocese of Montréal. Before his ordination, he was an independent garment contractor, working together with his wife, from 1986 to 2011. Until recently, he wrote and shared Sunday homily with the Chinese network of Salt and Light. He is also enjoy volunteering as director in three senior homes.

Mr. François Picotte, deacon

FRANÇOIS PICOTTE first pursued a career as an economist in international development that took him to five continents. He then moved to the financial industry in Toronto and started his family there. A personal and religious reflection led him to ordination to the permanent diaconate in 2004. Aspiring to return to his professional roots, he once again works in economic development, but this time in the great northern spaces in Nunavut. As a deacon, he has been happily serving in Iqaluit since 2009.
