Renovation of the Beckerath Organ in the Basilica
Renovation work on the Beckerath organ in Saint Joseph's Oratory basilica began August 29, 2011 and will continue until May/June 2012. The Sunday organ concerts remain at 3:30 p.m., but using the Rogers organ, located in the sanctuary area of the basilica. Thus, music lovers can still come and listen to the recitals offered by noted organists.

The Good Shepherd Parish youth group from Old Orchard Beach, Maine, USA, came to be with us at the Oratory on 1st of July. Rev. David Schlevar, CSC., is one of the Pastors of this youth group. At his request, Fr. Jomon Kalladanthiyil, CSC. from the Pastoral team of the Oratory and Scholastics Joseph, CSC and Thomas, CSC, doing their theology studies in Montreal, met with the youth group at the Oratory. The youth group members are very active in their Parish. They are spiritually enriched by their time spent at the Oratory. They hope to organize some programs for the Canonization of Brother André.

A group of Muslims at the Oratory. They come to visit this Holy Shrine knowing that it’s a place of Catholic worship. They also have heard about miracles taking place at this place when we pray to God with lot of faith.

Ignatius Puvirajasinggham & Family visit St. Joseph’s Oratory from Paris, France along with their family members Antony Arulthasan & Family in Toronto. They are all devoted Catholics and they are originally from Sri Lanka. They give a lot of importance for family life. St. Joseph’s Oratory is a very special place for them as they receive a lot peace from this place.

Hai Nguyen, Thuy Nguyen, Dana Nguyen come to St. Joseph’s Oratory from California. They are accompanied by Lien Nguyen, Phuong Nguyen, Viet Le, Katrina Le, Trina Le, Hua Nugen from New Jersey, USA. These families are from originally from Vietnam. They have a special devotion to St. Joseph and they are extremely happy to come to be with us here at Mount Royal.

George Stephem & Family along with Punitharaj Navaratnam & Family – These families from Mississauga visit St. Joseph’s Oratory every year since 1990. They come to pray here through the intercession of St. Joseph and Blessed Brother André. They find that their prayers are heard by God. This year, 2010, they visited the Holy Shrine on 8th of July. After having a half day of prayer and meditation in the Church, they have a traditional meal taken in the garden of St. Joseph’s Oratory.

Mr. Sivasinnan Kandiah and his family came to the Oratory along with their relatives from Switzerland. They are all originally Sri Lankans. Though they are Hindus yet they believe that praying in a Catholic Church brings them closer to God. Mr Kandia says that he comes to this Holy Shrine every Thursday and it brings a lot of joy and inner peace for him and for his family.
