Prayer Novena 2008

You Give Us the Living Bread

Lord, you give us the Living Bread,

and we thank you for your generous gift of love.

We are also grateful for Joseph

whom you sent us as exemplar and defender.

We praise you for this man of faith

who sought to do your will;

for this man of hope

who depended on your loving-kindness;

for this honest worker

who provided a home for Mary and Jesus.

Under his patronage, Lord,

we lift up our world to you;

grant to all peoples

lives filled with peace and justice.

We lift up the Church;

may the Eucharist through which we give you thanks,

inspire us to go forth

to spread the Good News everywhere.

We lift up families;

may they be places of mutual understanding and support.

We lift up ourselves;

help us become Christians

who acknowledge you as Father,

and who live as sisters and brothers

to all your children.

Prayers to Saint Joseph

Saint Joseph, whose protection is so great, so stromg, and so prompt,
I place in you all my hopes and desires. Saint Joseph, assist me by
powerful intercession and obtain for me, from your divine Son,
spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Blessed Joseph, loving husband of Mary, the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God,
and foster father of her Son, we turn to you with confidence as we pray for the
Church throughout the world.

Whatch over the family of God, redeemed by the precious blood of Christ,
as you watched over the Holy Family of Nazareth.

You once rescued the child Jesus from the danger of death, protect now his
people from the powers of darkness and strengthen it in every trial.

Give it your own courage in the struggle against evil,
and keep it free from sin and error.

Help us to follow your example, that we may live a holy life,
die a holy death, and so share your joy forever in heaven. Amen.
