Renovation of the Beckerath Organ in the Basilica
Renovation work on the Beckerath organ in Saint Joseph's Oratory basilica began August 29, 2011 and will continue until May/June 2012. The Sunday organ concerts remain at 3:30 p.m., but using the Rogers organ, located in the sanctuary area of the basilica. Thus, music lovers can still come and listen to the recitals offered by noted organists.

Prayer, singing, testimonies of people who attended the canonization of Brother Anfré in Rome, the vigil prayer at St. Joseph's Oratory and the celebration of Thanksgiving mass at Olympic Stadium of Montréal.

On December 22, 1992, October 17 was proclaimed Wolrdwide Day for the Relief of Poverty, by the General ASsembly of the United Nations.

At the instigation of Pope Pius XI in 1926, the second last Sunday of october each year is World Mission Sunday. This is an opportunity for the worlwide Catholics to pray for the missions and something to share. The national collection of this Sunday is organized by the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith Missio Canada.

The disarmament week is proclaimed by the United Nations (UN) to be held each year from 24th to 30th October. On this occason the bishops of Québec invite Christian communities to pray today for peace in the world.
